A few weekends ago, a sunny October Sunday was spent wandering around the Northern Quarter, one of my all time favourite parts of Manchester.
Having stumbled upon the Maker’s Market, taking a pew in a deck chair as the heavens opened in (typical MCR style), indulging in super scrumptious lobster rolls @ Burger + Lobster and of course discovering a few little shopping gems I found myself coming home with a few extra bags and a lighter purse then I left with.
And here’s what I bought…
How is that I never been in Oklahoma before!? The super cute, kitch gift shop located right on the edge of the Northern Quarter is home to everything that tickles my pickle. Having recently upcycled my bar cart I wanted a few extra ornaments to sit on it. I found this quirky tattoo style palmistry hand and new immediately it would be a new home for my favourite cocktail rings.
I found my design book mecca in the infamous Magma, in-fact I ended up spending almost half an hour in there engrossed in books on editorial design, fashion and of course…cats.
I came away with a guide curated by creatives sharing cool hang outs in a super interesting city that i’ll be paying a visit to in December. The plan is to turn it into a scrapbook of the trip and hopefully it reveals some total gems when it comes to where to eat and where to shop. I also bought a Mick Jagger portrait by Philip Norman for £4, which has to be the bargain of the century.
Even though we have two Pop Boutiques in Liverpool, I always think the Manchester store is better, I have no idea why but I always seem to find some absolute gems in there. I came away with a bag full…naturally. The purple jumper gave me Halloween vibes so that was a reason to buy it right? Not that it features super snuggly batwing sleeves and hugs me in all the right places? The office I work in has an air conditioning glitch and I often find myself freezing, slouchy, cool statement jumper? Problem solved.
So lurex is having a bit of a moment all thanks to the sports luxe trend which is dominating the fast fashion space, I saw this grey/silver sparkly shirt and knew immediately it had to have a place in my AW16 wardrobe. I like to wear it buttoned up with an A line skirt and tights or unbuttoned layered over a cami with skinny jeans and my statement, silver ankle boots which I featured in my staple AW favourites.
And finally onto the statement sunnies! I just LOVE these bad boys. Purple circular lenses, so retro.
