3 Vegan/Cruelty-Free Skincare Products To Try

(AD-Gifted) Post contains gifted items from Kear Life Skincare

In a recent post, I mentioned that I’ve taken a more skincare first approach to my daily beauty routine. After all, who needs a full face of makeup, every day? For me, a quick lashing of mascara will do – especially on days when I haven’t got any Zoom calls booked in and the only living thing that sees me is my cat, Alf.

It was this skin-first approach that inspired me to share some new skincare recommendations. All of the products featured in this post are vegan and cruelty-free and each has been helping to keep my skin hydrated, clear and bright.

3 Vegan/Cruelty-Free Skincare Products To Try

For the most part, my skin type is quite normal, I have spectacular ‘one-hit-wonder’ breakouts and fairly large pores on my nose, though my face is not typically very shiny and oily. I do however notice my skin really enjoys products intended for hydration and brightening.

Tropic Skincare Deep Hydration Soothing Cooling Mask Review

I was recently introduced to Tropic Skincare when one of my pals became a brand ambassador (Follow her Facebook page here) for them. I wanted to support my friend in her new venture and so I purchased a few bits from Tropic to try.

Tropic Skincare is positioned as a cruelty-free and vegan hair, skin, body and makeup brand with an ethos towards using naturally derived ingredients whilst embracing innovative green technologies. All of the products are made in the UK and something also tells me, that Tropic was a business that was backed by Alan Sugar on The Apprentice. Tropic is, in my opinion, a mid to high-end brand, with most products starting at £20+, therefore it is certainly investment skincare.

I have recently been using the Tropic Skincare Deep Hydration Soothing Cooling Mask which is a hydrating creamy, gel mask formulated to be anti-inflammatory and nourishing. The mask ingredients list includes Ressurection Flower to help show that glow, Wild Australian Superberries (Muntries, Pepperberries & Riberries) to help brighten skin and reduce free radical damage, as well as Allantoin to soothe irritation and act as a protectant.

I apply the mask once a week to dry skin with the Tropic Spatula (not necessary at all to use this product) and leave it for 30 mins or so before rinsing with warm water and a flannel. The formulation smells seriously fruity and applies smoothly to the skin. As you apply the product, it doesn’t feel like a typical mask (Usually thick and unctuous) but more like a gel cleanser, however, it soon sets down into the skin. Upon rinsing your skin feels refreshed and looks bright dewy and hydrated.

Kear Life Calm & Revive Arnica Body Oil Review

Inspired by ancient greek skincare, Kear Life Skincare was a new brand to me. I was very kindly sent their Calm & Revive Arnica Body Oil* to try. The Calm & Revive Body Oil is designed to combat inflammation and redness whilst soothing tired muscles. The oil is derived and blended with Arnica Montana – trusted by professional athletes to aid soft tissue damage, sweet almond oil, beeswax and olive oil.

Aimed to warm stiff muscles and joints, as well as heal bruises by stimulating white blood cells, I have been using this soothing oil on achy legs and arms after long bike rides or a home workout. I’ve also warmed a little in my hand and patted onto drier skin on my elbows and even on my face. The formulation itself smells of greek yoghurt and honey which is delicious and it comes packaged in a weighty glass bottle. A lovely treat for post-exercise in particular.

The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash, Scrub & Mask

I’ve used the Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash, Scrub & Mask for years however, I have recently fallen back in love with it thanks to Adam leaving it on the side of the bath. I know I mentioned that my skin doesn’t typically break out, but when it does, it’s epic! I always call upon this bad boy to sort things out when that happens.

Featuring community trade fair trade tea tree oil from Kenya, this potent face wash helps remove impurities whilst harnessing excess oil. It leaves your skin feeling tingly and clean and helps promote clear skin. It has been a miracle worker for Adam who has oily skin and I love it too.

Everybody’s skin is different

Of course, it goes without saying that everybody skin is different and will react/behave differently to different products. I understand that an initial investment for skincare feels risky. I give new products a months trial to see if it’s my skin just purging old toxins or if it’s really an issue with the product before deciding if it’s a keeper or not. I can safely say, however, that I haven’t had an issue with any of these products.

What is your favourite skincare brand?
