I’ve been debating whether or not to seriously splurge and buy one of the cult ByTerry Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadow sticks. At £30 they’re certainly a high end purchase however, many drugstore and niche brands are jumping on the bandwagon and producing similar products.
A little while ago, there was a somewhat tense and slightly off interview uploaded toYoutube by the goddess, Sali Hughes featuring Rosie Huntington Whitely. Whilst I felt a little bored and uninspired watching the interview, I made a point to take a look at the Rosie for Autograph cosmetics line next time I was near an M+S. I’d heard a lot of hype about the line, in particular that Rosie’s range is certified cruelty free standard.
The range features some decent products, nicely packaged and retailing at a mid-weight price -Think L’Oreal and Max Factor price points. There was one product in particular that I felt compelled to try.
Cream eyeshadow stick in ‘Sparkle + Magic’…
Retailing at £12.50, there are 4 shades in the range, typical neutral colours including a brown, a camel nude and a berry shade which are all completely wearable. I love cream shadows as they can be worn alone (especially good when you are in a rush) or when layered under a complimentary shadow – which is the way I like to wear them.
‘Sparkle and Magic’ is metallic gun metal grey which has tones of silver and green. To me, it is the perfect colour for lighter coloured eyes to really bring the colour out. I have greyish blue eyes and as you can see from the pic below, Sparkle and Magic really enhances the colour.
The cream formula is nice to apply, either straight out of the bullet or with a brush. I do find it takes some layering to achieve an opaque coverage and a light wash can look a little streaky. As I mentioned above, I layer my shadow with a similar colour, my current choice is ‘Chamoisee‘ from MUA – A beautiful shimmery gold. In terms of longevity with this method, it’s pretty good – it certainly lasts a full 8 hours at work.
I definitely recommend the Rosie for Autograph cream eyeshadow sticks if you are looking for an easily transportable creamy shadow that you can apply on the go, that wears long and is a great dupe for the Ombre Blackstar line.
