You know when you have one of those days that couldn’t be more perfect?
Friday was one of them.
After a super crazy and stressful week, I packed my little suitcase and escaped the busy city to the tranquility and beauty of Ox Pasture Hall Hotel a luxury, country house hotel which is around three miles outside of Scarborough in East Yorkshire.
After nearly three hours in the car singing our hearts out to Westlife, the boy and I arrived at the traditional stone building surrounded by lush hillsides and a beautiful, green garden peppered with pink and red roses growing around tree trunks.
We were greeted by the lovely receptionist who showed us to our room, the ‘Wetherby Suite.’
Each of the rooms are named after places nearby which I think is a really nice touch.
The suite was perfect, a large space with a dressing area/living room leading to a large bedroom complete with king size bed and a beautiful bathroom that housed a deep bath and a waterfall shower.
I loved the modern country style of decor, it felt homely and welcoming which was then complemented by the boutique touches, chandeliers in the rooms and a ‘his ‘n’ hers’ sink in the bathroom.
After settling in and unpacking, we headed into the cosy lounge area where we decided to become all decadent by indulging in afternoon tea.
I have never had such a delicious selection of scones, sandwiches and pastries, the cheesecake and chocolate brownie were particularly divine, even better to be munched between glasses of Prosecco and Yorkshire Tea.
As the afternoon passed and all of the delights on our cake stand were devoured, we decided to take a walk around the grounds.
With the crisp Autumn setting in, the greenery was so bright against the light mist that hovered over the hills. It was on our little walk that we discovered some friendly residents to which I was absolutely overjoyed, two beautiful cats snoozing on a seat.
We were booked in to have dinner later on in the evening so we had a few hours to spare, I was absolutely delighted to see the enormous bath tub so I couldn’t resist a super bubbly bath.
The tap was so cool, distributing water like a waterfall.
Once we were ready, we headed to The Bistro for a drink before dinner at the highly acclaimed Courtyard Restaurant.
We were sat next by the window next to the courtyard which looked so beautiful with the gardens lit dimly which provided the perfect backdrop for date night.
Now, I know that I have said the word amazing rather a lot in this post however, I think the adjective spectacular can be whipped out to describe the food.
The Courtyard Restaurant doesn’t feature in the Michelin Guide for nothing.
The food was the best I have eaten in a very long time.
I started with a homemade mushroom soup followed by the in house ‘Ox Burger’ – The menu is so extensive with both traditional and A la Carte listings.
I was simply blown away by the quality of the food and of course the service which was outstanding.
After dinner, we treated to the lounge for a few glasses of wine before heading back to retreat to the super comfy king sized bed for a good nights sleep.
In the morning I opened the window to a beautiful dewy morning and a perfect silence before heading to breakfast which was equally as amazing as dinner the night before.
I choose a cooked breakfast but there were cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt amongst other breakfast foods and drinks that were available.
After breakfast, it was time to head home.
My stay at Ox Pasture Hall hotel was magical and it is just what the doctor ordered.
I would highly recommend heading there for a meal or even for afternoon tea if you are in the Scarborough area, but above all I would recommend that you stay there as it really is the perfect place to get away from the madness, enjoy luxury comforts and eat incredible food.
They also accommodate weddings providing the perfect natural backdrop for your special day, in fact I was chatting to a fellow blogger on Instagram who is thinking of having her wedding at Ox Pasture Hall.
I'm staying here too next week 🙂
