The Upkeep
– I often recieve comments here on my blog about the upkeep of my red hair.
Red hair is notorious for losing its vibrance and colour within a matter of days making it a no
go option for many people wanting a low maintenance hair colour.
You certainly cannot get away with a monthly dye job and expect your red to look as radiant as it did in the first week.
In all honesty I think that my hair has had that many buckets of red dye washed over it that red has somehow become apart of its DNA therefore I don’t find that the colour fades/leaks as much these days.
That said, there is no way I could get away with not doing a few bits of colour maintenance here and there.
1.
On those pesky ‘inbetween days’ I try and get away with leaving the house
with an unwashed mop and resort to our old favourite:
Batiste – Dry Shampoo
–
Thank heavens Batiste brought out a dry shampoo for us red heads, no longer could I be dealing with grey roots and a white, powdery hair line!
I also use this product on days when my roots are looking a little peek-a-boo and my naturally dark hair is casting a shadow over my racy red!
2.
I am sure that in previous posts and video’s I have given you a sneak peek of my saviour
the
Indola
I really would be lost without this little gem!
Once as week or when my colour is starting to fade I bring out this red coloured mousse that adds a tint of colour to your hair (make sure you use gloves, the amount of times I have left the house with red palms is ridiculous)
I add the mousse to my roots and the colour stays put right up until the next wash!
The perfect cheat.
3.
With all this use of powdery products and mousse’s red hair can look a tiny bit dull.
Coloured, but dull.
To combat this I like to use a shine spray!
My favourite thus far is the
Neal and Wolf – Glow
I spritz this onto my hair every day for some extra shine and lustre, it smells divine and leaves your hair feeling non greasy or sticky!
How do you maintain your colour?

Love this post, people always ask me too but it's great to find new tips!
Sometimes I find the Bastiste Dry Shampoo to be slightly orange toned though:(
Having said that I really want to get my hands on that Indola colour moose!
